Asian Food:

Asian food exists in the cooking practices of countries located in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, West Asia, and North Asia.

Asia is the largest and most populous continent on earth, it's home to a diverse range of foods, of different ingredients and cooking methods that vary greatly from region to region. 

East Asia:

East Asia food describes the food of China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, and Mongolia.

Southeast Asia:

Southeast Asia food includes the food of eleven countries- Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei, and Timor-Leste.

South Asia:

South Asian food includes countries- Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal, and Bhutan.

West Asia:

West Asian food describes the cuisine of countries within the middle east- Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Qatar, Palestine, Kuwait, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Armenia, Bahrain, Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt, Oman, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. 

Central Asia:

Central Asian food describes the cuisine of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. 

North Asia:

It includes the food of Siberia, a part of the Russian Federation.

 

The best Asian food experiences:

1. Chow Mein (China):

Chowmein is a dish of Chinese stir-fried noodles with vegetables and sometimes with meat and tofu. Over the centuries, variations of chowmein were developed in China and around the world. It is popular throughout the world among Chinese immigrants. It is particularly famous in Pakistan, India, the UK, the US, and Nepal. This dish can be made by several methods and a range of toppings can be used.

The method of preparation is the same; The noodles are boiled until crispy on the outside but soft in the middle, then tossed with your favourite veggies and shredded pieces of meat (chicken, beef, or seafood) with the sauces of your choice.

 

2. Pad Thai (Thailand):

Pad Thai is Thailand's national dish, a flavorful stir-fried rice noodles consisting of tofu, dried shrimp, bean sprouts, and eggs among other vegetables. The flavour is a blend of sweet, sour, and salty.

It is one of the most popular Thai dishes abroad. the tender rice noodles are flavoured with sugar, tamarind, lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. The ingredients are fried in a wok.

 

3. Bibimbap (South Korea):

Bibimbap is one of the most popular dishes in South Korea besides bulgogi and kimchi. 'Bibim' means mixed and 'bap' means cooked rice, so it is mixed rice. It is said to be invented out of necessity. Bibimbap was created by combining different ingredients with rice in a bowl, the ingredients were leftovers from New Year's Eve. 

The rice is combined with a variety of ingredients such as sliced beef, vegetables, soy sauce, gochujang (thick, deep red chilli pepper paste), and a raw egg on top.

 

4. Sushi (Japan):

Sushi is Japan's most famous culinary representative, typically made with rice and fillings which have been rolled inside a sheet of dry seaweed. Styles of sushi and its presentations vary widely, but one key ingredient is 'sushi rice'.


Sushi is traditionally made with medium-grain white rice, it can also be prepared with brown rice or short-grain rice. It is often prepared with seafood (often raw), such as squid, eel, salmon, tuna, yellow tail, or imitation crab meat. It is often served with pickled ginger wasabi and soy sauce.

5. Biryani (Indian Subcontinent):

Biryani was developed in the royal kitchens of the Mughal Empire (1526-1857) and is a mix of native spice rice dishes of India and Persian. The word biryani is derived from the Persian word 'Brian' meaning fried or roasted and it is believed that the dish originated in Persia, and was bought to India by the Mughals. 

The main ingredient includes rice (ideally basmati), spices, meat (chicken, beef, or mutton), eggs or vegetables, and numerous other optional ingredients such as dry fruits, nuts, and yoghurt.

The popularity of biryani spread throughout Asia and other countries, hence, has a huge variety of biryanis today, such as Sindhi biryani (made with yoghurt), Bombay biryani (with lots of spices and kevra) or Lucknowi biryani (a special technique of making meat and rice separately).

 

6. Durum (Turkey):

Durum invented in Germany (Berlin), is a Turkish wrap that is one of the most popular Turkish street foods. The word 'durum' means 'roll' and is used to describe wraps filled with doner kebab ingredients. The wrap is made from lavash and yufka flatbreads. The dish can be found pretty much anywhere in Turkey.

A durum is often made with doner kebab. It is a type of kebab made with meat cooked in a vertical rotisserie. As it turns and gets grilled by a vertical cooking element, the outermost layer is shaved off and used as fillings for the durum. 

The dish made its way to the Middle East where it took root and became known as shawarmas. 

 

7. Falafel with Hummus (Lebanese):

Falafel is a deep-fried ball or patty-shaped fritter in Middle Eastern cuisine made from ground chickpeas, broad beans, or both. It is often served in a pita, samoon, or wrapped in a flatbread known as a taboon. It may be served with hummus, salad, pickled vegetables, and hot sauce and drizzled with tahini-based sauces. It is eaten throughout the Middle East and is a common street food and is a common street food. 


Hummus is an internationally popular, beige-coloured spread traditionally made with mashed chickpeas, tahini sesame paste, lemon juice, and garlic. People across the world love Hummus for its tangy flavour and the fact that it is filled with nutrients. 

When served, it is dressed with a drizzle of olive oil and is then used as a dip for vegetables, falafel, and pita. It is sometimes additionally enriched with spices such as cumin and paprika.
